have many problems. The complexity of teacher problems in Indonesia is caused by the
lack of optimal teacher management/management, including in this case teacher
performance management. Assessment of teacher performance in Sentajo Raya
District, shows that the average teacher performance assessment is still not optimal
because the average ability is still below 100% of the value that should be the highest
100%, this shows that performance results still need to be improved.. From several
elementary schools in Sentajo Raya District, it is known that the principal does not yet
have the ability to lead so that the expected results are not maximized. Lack of
motivation in an educator so that the performance results are less good or less
satisfying. So that the teacher's performance has not been maximized according to the
expected standards, this can be seen from the teacher's delay in doing the task and not
carrying out learning and teaching as desired.
The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of principal's
leadership and work motivation on the performance of elementary school teachers in
Sentajo Raya District. The population in this study were all elementary school teachers
in Sentajo Raya District, Kuantan Singing Regency, amounting to 313 people. Based on
Isaac and Michael's table, the sample amounted to 161 teachers. In this study, the
sample was taken using a cluster proportional random sampling technique. The data
collection method used is a questionnaire (questionnaire) and documentation method.

The results showed that the principal's leadership affected the performance of
elementary school teachers in Sentajo Raya District, work motivation affected the
performance of elementary school teachers in Sentajo Raya District, and leadership
style and work motivation simultaneously affected the performance of elementary
school teachers in Sentajo Raya District. The magnitude of the contribution of the
influence of leadership and work motivation on the performance of elementary school
teachers in Sentajo Raya District is 56%.
