Kebijakan Tobacco Plain Packaging Australia Dan Eskpor Produk Tembakau Indonesia Ke Australia Tahun 2013
The tobacco plain packaging policy is a regulation that is applied in
Australia regarding the packaging of processed tobacco products, namely
cigarettes. The contents of the policy are related to determining the color of the
packaging, typical font sizes, displaying health warnings, and not displaying
logos, brand images, or promotional sentences on cigarette packaging. The
implementation of the tobacco plain packaging policy in Australia is inseparable
from the high consumption of cigarettes in that country. Data from the WHO
states that around 40% of Australians consumed cigarettes in the early 1990s and
it continues to increase every year. The death rate from smoking reaches 15,000
people every year. This amount does not include material and maintenance losses
due to cigarette consumption.
This study uses a qualitative method. The approach used in this research is
to have literature supported by quantitative descriptive analysis of secondary
data. The secondary data used is sourced from the Central Statistics Agency. This
study uses the theory of International Trade and Behavioral Economy.
The results show that the implementation of the Tobacco Plain Packaging
Act is a threat to the competitiveness of Indonesian cigarette export products
because consumers are threatened not to kpnow which Indonesian cigarette
products they will consume. The policy of tobacco plain packaging in Australia is
inseparable from the high consumption of cigarettes in that country. The impact
of the Tobacco Plain Packaging Act policy forced tobacco companies to lose their
trademark rights in Australia.
