Variasi Konsentrasi Kitosan Dalam Pembuatan Bioplastik Berbahan Baku Jerami Nangka
ABSTRACT
This research aimed to get the best concentration of chitosan on the
characteristics of bioplastics made from jackfruit straw. This research was
conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD)
consisting of four treatments and four replications to obtain 16 experimental units.
The treatments in this study were K1 (2% chitosan concentration), K2 (4%
chitosan concentration), K3 (6% chitosan concentration), and K4 (8% chitosan
concentration). The parameters tested in this study were water resistance, water
vapor transmission rate, tensile strength, elongation, and biodegradability. The
data obtained were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA). If
the F count is greater than or equal to the F table, the analysis will continue with
Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The results of
analysis of variance showed that the addition of different concentrations of
chitosan in the manufacture of bioplastic made from jackfruit straw had a
significant effect on water resistance, water vapor transmission rate, tensile
strength, elongation, and complete degradation time. The best treatment in this
study was the K1 treatment with a chitosan concentration of 2%, which had a
swelling of 67,09%, water vapor transmission rate of 3,0379 g/m2/hour, a tensile
strength of 14,68 MPa, elongation of 32,46%, and 8 days for complete
degradation.
