ABSTRACT
Sultan Syarif Hasyim Forest Park (SSH Forest Park) is one of the conservation areas in Riau Province which is still experiencing regional disturbances that need serious handling. Forest ranger are human resources who have duties, functions and authorities as organizers of conservation activities in forest areas, including in the SSH Forest Park. This study aims to determine the forms of regional disturbance in the SSH Forest Park, determine the performance of the forest ranger in handling area disturbances in the SSH Forest Park, and analyze the factors that influence the performance of the forest police in handling with regional disturbances in the SSH Forest Park. This study uses a qualitative approach. Primary data and secondary data were collected using source triangulation and technical triangulation. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. The results showed (1) SSH Forest Park area was still experiencing disturbances in the form of encroachment and illegal logging. (2) Percentage of forest ranger activities that were realized was 56.1%. The highest percentage of forest ranger work quality assessment is 38% quite good. The forest ranger have handled regional disturbances in the SSH Forest Park with a poor quantity of performance and a fairly good quality of performance. (3) The supporting factors for the performance of the forest ranger are the ability and skills, teamwork, and facilities and infrastructure. The inhibiting factors for the performance of the forest ranger are not optimal coordination and working relations with related parties, the delegation of tasks and authority to the forest ranger is not optimal, and the amount of forest ranger personnel is still inadequate.
