Keawetan Kayu Terap (Artocarpus Odoratissimus) Dengan Bahan Pengawet Alami Ekstrak Kulit Kayu Akasia Terhadap Serangan Rayap Tanah
ABSTRACT
The need for wood continues to increase along with increasing numbers and interest in wood because it has high decorative value. The availability of commercial wood raw materials in natural forests decreased along with the decline of forest areas, so other replacement wood was needed such as the use of lesser known wood species. Example of wood that is less known and rarely used publicly is terap (Artocarpus odoratissimus). Terap has a low durability class so needs to be preserved. Alternative preservatives are safe and environmentally friendly because Acacia bark waste is suspected toxic to wood-destroying organisms. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Acacia bark extract on the durability of applied wood against termite attacks, determine the concentration and optimal soaking time of natural preservatives, and to determine the durability of applied wood against termite attacks. This study used a complete randomized design (RAL) factorial with two factors (concentration preservatives and length soaking time) consisting of 9 treatment combinations and 10 replications. Making test samples and feeding of soil termites refers to SNI 7207-2014. Test results obtained wood moisture content 12.14%, wood density 0.29 g/cm3, percentage feed weight loss 3.38% -6.00%, mortality value 18.80% -82.80% and the degree of wood damage 0-70. Provision natural preservatives acacia bark extract is quite effective in reducing attack termites. Treatment preservative concentration 11% with long soaking time 48 hours gives optimal results, where the treatment has been able to increase the resistance class of wood from III to I.
