COMMUNICATION EFFECTIVENESS OF INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT @PARIAMAN.TOURISM AS A MEDIA OF TOURISM INFORMATION AND PROMOTION IN KOTA PARIAMAN

Nowadays, practically all government organizations use one or more social media platforms for official communication due to advancements in digital technology. Instagram is a popular and successful platform for informational and promotional purposes used by the Pariaman's Department of Tourism and Culture. Through several stages, including content creation, platform selection, program planning, program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, the Department of Tourism and Culture maximizes Instagram promotions to increase the number of tourists on a national and international scale. In this case, the research is conducting to determine the outcome to which the effectiveness of a social media account can be used as a platform for fulfilling information and promoting tourism in order to attract people's attention to follow the Instagram account @pariaman.tourism. Furthermore, the goal is to learn more about tourism in Pariaman City.
The quantitative method with descriptive type is used in this research.The target audience for the research is followers of the Instagram account @pariaman.tourism. Based on the results of the Slovin formula's calculation with a tolerance error of 5%, 366 respondents were included in the sample. When determining the sample, the random sampling technique is used. The data was collected using a questionnaire through the use of Google Form, with a Likert scale as a measurement scale, and then tested using the SPSS apps.
Hardjana's theory of communication effectiveness, which consists of six indicators, can be seen in the results of research on the effectiveness of communication on the @pariaman.tourism instagram account. The theory consists of the indicator of the message recipient (receiver), the conten's message (content), communication media, format, (source), and timelines (timing). A number of 3.30 was calculated from all of these factors, and it was added to a scale range that was highly effective (3.26 - 3.40). In another way, it can be conlcude that the Instagram account @pariaman.tourism is a very effective tool for distributing and promoting information about Pariaman's tourism.
