Analisis Framing Pemberitaan Pemerkosaan Santriwati Pondok Pesantren Di Bandung Pada Media Detik.Com Dan Republika Online

Mass media coverage at the end of 2021 was enlivened by the viral case of the rape of 13 female Islamic boarding school students in Bandung by Herry Wirawan. This case has quickly garnered public attention since the news was published on December 9, 2021. The incessant reporting of this rape case cannot be separated from how the media framed and packaged the news from their perspective. For this reason, this study focuses on framing analysis conducted by Detik.com and Republika online media to identify the news framing presented by the two online media using the theory of social reality construction.
This study uses a qualitative approach with a framing analysis of the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki models. Data collection techniques through observation and documentation. The objects in this study are news related to the rape case by Herry Wirawan on Detik.com and Republika online media which were selected based on the suitability of the news theme starting from the emergence of cases in the media, finding facts that were revealed during the trial and news when the verdict was handed down period 9 December 2021 – February 15, 2022, with a total of 12 stories. While the technique of checking the validity of the data is done by diligent observation using reference materials.
The results of the study show that in reporting on the rape case of Herry Wirawan Detik.com appears neutral and in favor of the public interest with the information presented. Detik.com does not show a framing bias by covering up cases or cornering Herry as the perpetrator of rape who has dragged the name of the pesantren into his actions. The lack of attention to the elements of 5W+1H makes Detik.com's report very short with a lack of deeper information. The repetition of sentences in the leads and closings in some news also gives the impression of being monotonous, but with sufficient supporting images, it can clarify the contents of the news well. While Republika online in its reporting leads to the tendency of negative news by giving nicknames and labeling "sex predators" to Herry as the perpetrator in almost all news. Then, with the fulfillment of the 5W+1H element, Republika online news looks more weighty than Detik.com, accompanied by sources who think Islam, this is a representation that Republika online media has an interest in upholding the truth of facts concerning the views of Muslims following their media vision.
