Karakterisasi Briket Arang Berbahan Baku Batang Karet Dan Tempurung Kelapa Dengan Perekat Tapioka
ABSTRACT The growth of the world's population is increasing along with the energy used. One of these energies is liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as household energy. Briquettes are biomass that can be used as alternative household energy to replace LPG. One of the ingredients for making briquettes is rubber stems and coconut shells because they contain cellulose and lignin. The purpose of this study was to obtain the best briquette character from the combination of rubber stem charcoal and coconut shell charcoal according to the National Indonesian Standard. This study used a completely randomized design consisting of five treatments and three replications. The treatments in this study included the ratio of rubber stems and coconut shell charcoal 90:10 (BKTK1), 80:20 (BKTK2), 70:30 (BKTK3), 60:40 (BKTK4), and 50:50 (BKTK5). The data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results of the analysis showed that the ratio of briquettes sinificanly affects the water content, ash content, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content, and heat value. BKTK5 treatment is mixture 50% rubber stem charcoal and 50% coconut shell charcoal. BKTK5 were the best briquette treatment with the results of the analysis of water content 4.87%, ash content 3.56%, volatile matter content 4.76%, 86.81% fixed carbon content, and 8082.29 cal/g heating value. Keywords: Briquettes, coconut shell, rubber rod.
