The development of communication technology is now inseparable from the internet. Information and communication technology has become very fast especially with the addition of the internet so that it has experienced many changes such as media convergence and online media that make it easier for humans to access all information and content without limitation. One of the phenomena of the influx of new culture due to globalization and the internet is Hallyu or K-Pop. Social media has become a place that really helps K-Popers in accessing all sources of information about their idols, not only as a means of information, social media also acts as a medium of communication for them with their favorite idols. This research uses the theory of New Media. This study aims to determine how much influence Twitter social media has on parasocial relationships and K-Popers' trust in the opposite sex on followers of the @indomyfess account.
This study uses a quantitative method using purposive sampling technique and using the Slovin formula which obtains a total sample of 400 from 224 thousand population of Twitter followers @indomyfess. The data collection technique used questionnaires distributed online with the help of Google Forms. The data analysis technique in this study uses path analysis with a coefficient of determination. In processing data, researchers used SPSS version 28.
Based on the path analysis that has been carried out, the results obtained are: (1) there is a significant influence between Twitter social media on parasocial relationships with a significance of 0.001 < 0.05, (2) that there is a significant influence between Twitter social media on the level of trust in K -popers with a significance value of 0.005 < 0.05, and (3) there is no significant influence between Twitter social media through parasocial relationships on the level of trust of K-popers to the opposite sex. Based on the results of the path analysis test, it is known that the direct effect given by the X variable on Z is 0.147 or 14.7%. The results of calculations using the SPSS 28 program can be seen that R2 in the table above is 0.142 or 14.2%.
