Perilaku Dan Pola Asuh Induk Gajah Jinak (Elephas Maximus Sumatranus) Di Camp Flying Squad Taman Nasional Tesso Nilo
ABSTRACT
The Sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus) is a species of Asian elephant that only lives on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Sumatra has a larger posture than the subspecies of India. When a child reaches the age of nine, he or she is diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease, which can last for up to 22 months. Following the birth of a child, the mother elephant will exclusively care for the child for the first six months. Care for elephant calves will help the growth and development of elephant calves until adulthood. The daily behavior and upbringing of the elephant mother is thought to be greatly influenced by the behavior of the elephants in the forest. The purpose of this study is to learn about the causes and consequences of juvenile diabetes in children living in Tesso Nilo National Park. The method of research on the behavior and upbringing of elephant mothers in Tesso Nilo National Park is observational descriptive using the multistage method, namely the focal animal sampling method combined with the continuous sampling method. The results of the study show that the longest time spent eating is 180,660 second for adults and 177,420 second for children. And the duration of learning is fastest to 16,800 second, whether for adults or children. During the upbringing, the calf did not go to the surrogate mother, the calf remained with the original mother. Because an elephant calf does not have long-term interactions with substitutes due to different environments, the calf will become more aggressive and agonistic towards other elephants.
