Komunikasi Lingkungan Dalam Proses Difusi Inovasi Program Bank Jelantah Oleh Pt.Mbio-Energi Pekanbaru
The high consumption of cooking oil, which has increased compared to the
previous year, indirectly has implications for the large volume of waste cooking
oil produced. Used cooking oil is classified as B3 (Hazardous & Toxic Material)
household waste. PT.MBio-Energi Pekanbaru is an exporter company whose role
is in collecting waste cooking oil to be processed into biodiesel which has been
coordinated in the Jelantah Bank Program. The presence and active role of the
jelantah bank program run by PT.MBio-Energi Pekanbaru as an innovator is a
means of communicating environmental messages to manage the environment,
health and the economy. In the communication process, it is called "Innovation
Diffusion", namely communicating a new idea/ideas through communication
channels within a certain time span in a social system.
The research method approach is descriptive qualitative. The object of
research is innovation, communication channels, time period, social systems, and
environmental communication patterns, while the research subjects consist of 6
people using purposive techniques. Data collection techniques were carried out
through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique
used in this study was descriptive, by going through several stages, namely data
reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and testing the validity of
the data using source triangulation.
The results of the research are innovations in collecting used cooking oil
to be processed into biodiesel through the exporter process. The characteristics
that show the superiority of innovation are in the periodic pickup system and
separation of containers from other types of waste using jerry cans that are lent
directly by the company. Socialization is part of a face-to-face communication
channel that is used to invite and encourage the public to understand the jelantah
bank program, accompanied by the use of social media in the form of Instagram,
Tiktok, and Facebook which contain educational content for the public. The social
system that is the target of this program is early adopters (housewives), early
majority (culinary entrepreneurs), and late majority (waste banks/partners).
Environmental communication patterns are formed through a continuous and
significant environmental communication process. Environmental communication
patterns consist of; socialization, bank cooking service programs, program
development, and evaluations carried out to understand how far the program has
been running to achieve the company's targets.
