COMMUNICATION EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES OF INDONESIAN PLANNED PARENTHOOD ASSOCIATION RIAU CHAPTER IN MEETING THE PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS OF REFUGEES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Communication is carried out with the aim of achieving effective communication, namely if the stimuli conveyed by the communicator can be captured and understood by the recipient properly. According to Cultip, et al (2011), to assess effective communication in a public relations program the main principles are needed, including: Credibility (credibility), Context (context), Content (content), Clarity (clarity), Continuity and consistency (continuity and consistency), Channel (channel), Capability of the audience (capability or ability of the audience). One of the agencies implementing a program with a public relations function is PKBI Riau Region which is called the psychological services program which is run for the community and refugees in Pekanbaru. The aim is to increase individual abilities in solving psychological problems that arise as a result of situations from conflict countries, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic where this condition makes the psychological level of refugees.
This study used a quantitative research method with a descriptive type, this research data used a data collection technique, namely by distributing questionnaires directly to refugees participating in the PKBI Riau Region program with a sample size of 283 respondents calculated using a sampling technique. The data obtained in this study were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques.
The results of this study indicate that the level of effectiveness of the PKBI psychological services program communication in Riau Region as an activity for refugees is classified as effective. This can be seen from the results of data processing based on seven indicators, each of which achieves an average scale of 3.12 Credibility, a scale of 3.08 Context, a scale of 3.03 Content, a scale of 3.16 Clarity, a scale of 3.08 Continuity and consistency, a scale of 3.08 Channel, and a scale of 3.08 Capability of the audience. So that the conclusion of the average formula of all indicators is 3.09 which is included in the effective scale range. This shows that the psychological services program PKBI Riau Region is an effective program as an activity for refugees in Pekanbaru.
