Pengaruh Penambahan Kaolin Pada Proses Flokulasi Dalam Pengolahan Air Gambut Dengan Koagulan Poly Aluminium Chloride (Pac)
ABSTRACT
Peat water is surface water found in peat areas which contains dissolved organic compounds which cause the water to become colored and acidic. The suspended content in peat water is low, so in this study kaolin was added to increase suspended matter. This study aims to determine the effect of adding kaolin on the flocculation process using Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) coagulant at a coagulant dose of 200 mg/L. The coagulation-flocculation process was carried out at a coagulation speed of 250 rpm for 1 minute and 20 rpm flocculation for 20 minutes with the addition of kaolin in the flocculation process. The dose of kaolin used was 0 mg/L, 20 mg/L, 40 mg/L, 60 mg/L, 80 mg/L, 100 mg/L, 120 mg/L, 140 mg/L and 160 mg/L. The settling time used was 15 minutes. The results of this study showed that the efficiency of removal of organic matter was 95,60% and the color was 95,56% with the addition of 80 mg/L kaolin. The results obtained showed that the performance efficiency of kaolin was very small when compared to the addition of coagulant alone. The TSS and TDS parameters with the addition of kaolin increased the TSS and TDS values but the values still met the quality standards, namely 29,33 mg/L for TSS and 69 mg/L for TDS.
