Analisis Variasi Waktu Pengendapan Terhadap Proses Koagulasi-Flokulasi Dengan Penambahan Biokoagulan Biji Pepaya Dalam Penyisihan Kandungan Zat Organik Dan Warna Air Gambut
ABSTRACT Peat water has a high organic matter content and high color intensity, so it cannot be used as a raw water source prior to processing. The coagulant used in this study is biocoagulant from papaya seeds. This study aims to analyze the effect of settling time on the coagulation-flocculation process using papaya seed biocoagulants in increasing the removal of organic matter and color present in peat water. Papaya seeds which will be used as coagulants are prepared by drying in the sun for 7 days, grinding and sifting with a 100 mesh sieve. The coagulation-flocculation process was carried out using a jar test with a fast stirring speed of 100 rpm for 1 minute, a slow stirring speed of 40 rpm for 20 minutes, with variations in the observed settling time of 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 minutes at doses coagulant of 2.5 g/L. The results of this study concluded that the settling time of optium coagulant papaya seeds in removing organic matter content and color in peat water was 45 minutes with respective values obtained of 93,536 mg/L and 25 Pt-Co and efficiency values obtained of each of 45,14% and 93,26%. The optimum settling time can increase the efficiency of removing organic matter and peat water color but not too significantly.
