The local potential of a community can inspire creativity and even open up
opportunities for the community through the establishment of home-based
businesses or widely known as the Home Industry. IKM Langgak Craft group
manages to process palm oil sticks which are capable of contributing in the long
term. This study aims to identify the elements of social capital and the strengths
and weaknesses of each element of social capital in the IKM Langgak Craft group
in Koto Tandun Village, Tandun Sub-district, Rokan Hulu District. This study
used a descriptive qualitative method. The determination of the sample used a
purposive sampling technique involving people involved in the IKM Langgak
craft group. During data collection, the researcher lived-in for 2 months at the
location of the study. The results of the study showed that concerning social
capital bonding, the IKM Langgak Craft group had high solidarity as there are
some pioneers but the bonding was weak when viewed by the group involved in
the notarial deed. There was a strong sense of solidarity (Social Concern), a sense
of mutual help, and mutual support for one another. Besides, the relationship
within the IKM Langgak Craft group was formed emotionally. A sense of
sympathy and empathy was also seen in the IKM Langgak Craft group. Linking
Social Capital can be seen that there is a network relationship between the IKM
Langgak Craft group and others. Through this network, IKM Langgak Craft
groups exchange ideas and information for business innovations. Linking Social
Capital for IKM Langgak Craft group has a fairly extensive network formed in
2019-2022 both from government agencies and companies around the IKM
Langgak Craft Group. The strengths that stand out in IKM Langgak Craft Group
were trust and network. Meanwhile, the weakness was the weak bonding.
