PEKANBARU COMMUNITY OPINION ABOUT HAZE OF LAND AND FOREST FIRES IN RIAU PROVINCE 2019

In 2019, Riau Province became one of the provinces experiencing the worst forest and land fires with a burned area of 49,266 ha. Forest and land fires then cause new problems, namely dense smog, which disturbs the human respiratory tract, also hinders the course of community socio-economic activities. The haze disaster finally became a phenomenon that caught the attention of the public, especially the people of Pekanbaru City as one of the people who experienced the impact of losses from this phenomenon. The purpose of this study was to determine the opinion of the Pekanbaru community about the forest and land fires haze in Riau Province in 2019.
This research uses qualitative research with Huberman and Miles data analysis. The research subjects were the people of Pekanbaru City. The object of this research is the haze of forest and land fires. In this study using techniques of data collection observations, interviews, and documentation. To achieve the validity of the data in this study the authors used triangulation.
The results of this study indicate the tendency of public opinion in Pekanbaru City to contain criticism and hope, containing counter directions to the efforts to mitigate the forest and land fires haze carried out by the Riau Provincial Government. Riau. It can be concluded that the handling of the forest and land fires haze in Riau Province has not been optimal.
