"The Tradition of Uang Panaik in Bugis Marriage in the Transfer Village Community (Case Study Between Tradition and Prestige) Supervised by Rd Siti Sofro Sidiq and Hambali
This research is an analysis of the social phenomena that occur in the application of Uang Panaik values to the Bugis people. Uang Panaik is the main requirement in stepping into the marriage procession, in the procession there are many symbols and rituals that have full meaning, Uang Panaik has a sacred position and in its implementation many processions are carried out directly in determining Uang Panaik there are several principles, namely kinship, deliberation and prudence.
This study uses an ethnographic approach to obtain data and interpret data, where Uang Panaik is the main focus of this study. From the results of research in the field, the application of marriagge Uang Panaik has begun to shift to its true meaning, which used to be a form of appreciation for the bride whose function was party money, but this has shifted as a venue for strengthening social status to promote social prestige the longer the Panaik Money is getting higher. In this case it affects an individual or certain groups such as social prestige, psychology, applications are canceled and silariang.
