Pra Rancangan Pabrik Xylitol Proses Hidrogenasi Dengan Desain Alat Utama Separator (Sp-101)
ABSTRACT
Xylitol is a five-carbon sugar alcohol or sugar alcohol with the formula C5H12O5 which is also often referred to as wood sugar and can be found in fruits, vegetables, mosses, and mushrooms. Xylitol is a sweetener that is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Xylitol has also been commercially utilized in the health sector. This causes the need for xylitol as a raw material for the pharmaceutical industry, supporting materials for the food industry to increase. In 2018, Indonesia recorded xylitol import figures of 990,266 tons. This figure tends to increase in several years. Therefore, the xylitol plant is a domestic need and can minimize imports. Xylose is the raw material used to produce xylitol by hydrogenation process. Based on various reviews, this xylitol plant will be located in Cilegon, Banten This article is a brief description of the mechanical design of the Separator (SP-101) as the main equipment that will determine the economic feasibility of this plant. The feasibility study shows that this xylitol plant has a BEP of 40%; ROI of 35.74%; IRR of 22.74% and payback period of 2.13 years.
