ABSTRACT
Evaporator #5 is a unit used to thicken black liquor from 15% to 80% solid content before it is incinerated in recovery boiler. Black liquor is rich in sodium salts content, therefore in thickening process these salts exceed its solubility limit then precipitated in form of scale that decrease the evaporator’s performance. Scales in evaporator #5 can be removed using weak black liquor as wash liquid. This final project studies about the impact of super concentrator cleaning at evaporator #5. Super concentrator (SC) is a unit in evaporator that produces firing liquor. This final project as well discusses about SC cleaning effectivity by comparing the amount of ion & compound in wash liquid, also SC post cleaning performance increment is calculated.
