ABSTRACT
Oxygen Plant is a plant that produces oxygen and nitrogen using free air as its raw material. The oxygen gas that will be compressed by the oxygen compressor is obtained from the upper column coldbox with a temperature of 29℃ - 32℃ with a pressure of 0.29 barg then the temperature and pressure will increase, where the pressure is directly proportional to the temperature. The oxygen gas that has been produced will be compressed first using an oxygen compressor until the pressure is around 13 barg. The compressor used to compress oxygen gas in the oxygen plant is a reciprocating compressor with 2 stages where each stage is equipped with 2 pistons. In January 2023, there was an increase in the temperature of the outlet stage 1 of the oxygen compressor to 190℃. This increase occured due to an error in the instrument cable sensor due to direct contact with the heat of the oxygen compressor pipe. The heat caused the instrument cable insulation to break down resulting in a parameter error. If the outlet temperature of stage 1 rised to 190℃, the oxygen compressor will trip and gas oxygen cannot be compressed so it cannot deliver gas oxygen to customers.
