Persepsi Pengunjung Terhadap Kinerja Daya Tarik Objek Wisata Air Terjun Ponot Di Kecamatan Aek Songsongan Kabupaten Asahan

ABSTRACT
A tourist attraction can be considered as a destination by visitors depending on
their perception or evaluation of the attraction. This study aims to describe the
characteristics of visitors, analyze visitors' perceptions of the performance of
Ponot Waterfall's attractions, and analyze the level of importance and
performance of Ponot Waterfall's attractions. The research utilizes descriptive
analysis, Likert scale, and Cartesian diagram. The study was conducted in Aek
Songsongan Subdistrict, Asahan Regency, from July 2022 to May 2023. The
sample was selected through purposive sampling. The results of the study indicate
that the average age of Ponot Waterfall visitors is between 30 and 39 years old,
predominantly female, residing outside the subdistrict, obtaining information from
friends, visiting 2-3 times, having high school or equivalent education, being selfemployed
with an income ranging from Rp 2,600,000 to Rp 3,500,000.
Perceptions of the performance level of attractions in terms of attractions,
facilities, transportation, and hospitality are categorized as good. The Cartesian
diagram analysis illustrates visitors' evaluations based on the level of importance
and performance of the attractions. Quadrant I indicates three indicators that need
performance improvement, Quadrant II shows six indicators that are highly
important and should maintain their performance, Quadrant III includes three
indicators considered less important, and Quadrant IV consists of two indicators
considered excessive. The management should enhance the attractions of Ponot
Waterfall, which are highly important but still have low performance in Quadrants
I and III.
