ABSTRACT
The existence of agricultural extension workers in Tampan and Marpoyan sub-districts is considered important because there is still a lack of farmer knowledge and farmer awareness of the importance of this extension. This study aims to: 1) identify the internal and external characteristics of farmers in Tampan and Marpoyan sub-districts, 2) identify the internal and external characteristics of extension workers in Tampan and Marpoyan sub-districts, 3) analyze farmers' perceptions of the performance of agricultural extension agents in Tampan and Marpoyan sub-districts . The method used in this study was the survey method. The number of samples in this study were 42 vegetable farmers in Tampan and Marpoyan Districts. The analysis technique used is descriptive statistics using a Likert scale. The results of this study indicate that the majority of farmers are aged 33-50 years, have low education, experience in farming for more than 10 years with a total family of 3-4 dependents. The majority of farmers support extension activities. Agricultural extension workers who were respondents aged 32-43 years who had tertiary education with work experience were 4 people or 50% respectively aged 1-10 years and 11-20 years. The level of farmers' perception of extension worker performance on the quantity of work variable is 3.91 (good), the quality of work variable is 4.07 (good), the job knowledge variable is 4.07 (good), the creativeness variable is 4.19 (agree ), the cooperation variable was 4.06 (good) the cooperation variable was 3.78 (good), the initiative variable was 3.81 (good), and the personal qualities variable was 3.99 (good), so it can be said that the roles that have been carried out by agricultural extension workers categorized as good.
