ABSTRACT
Indonesia is the world's largest areca nut producer, followed by Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka. Indonesia is also the largest exporting country of areca nut in the world. The purpose of this study is to analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian areca nut and competitor countries in the international market. The study was conducted using secondary data obtained from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAOSTAT) and the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN Comtrade) in the form of areca nut export time series data from 2012-2021 including: price, volume, import export value of areca nut Indonesia and its competitor countries, namely: Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and residual countries. Analysis of the competitiveness of Indonesian areca nut commodities in the international market using the comparative advantage of the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RCA). The results showed that Indonesian areca nut commodities in the international market have low competitiveness when compared to Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Indonesia is only superior in competitiveness when compared to Thailand.
