Strategi Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Di Kawasan Bandar Bakau Kota Dumai

Empowerment of coastal communities is directed through optimization of their
potential in the field of natural resources and socio-cultural potential. The purpose
of this research is to analyze the potential of Bandar Bakau, the problemsfaced and
suitable strategies in community empowerment around Bandar Bakau. The
research method used is qualitative. The results found that community
empowerment around the Bandar Bakau area in Dumai City has not been running
optimally. Several problems were found including potential conflicts of interest in
the management of Bandar Bakau between influential actors in the local area, the
less than optimal function of social organizations or community groups in the
development of Bandar Bakau. With the identification of Bandar Bakau's potential
in the fields of ecotourism, fisheries, and creative industries produced by the local
community, this should be an asset for improving community welfare. However,
community empowerment efforts have not run optimally to unravel existing
problems, especially in the socio-economic field. Therefore, sustainable efforts are
needed to optimize the management and utilization of Bandar Bakau's potential for
community welfare by means of institutional management, providing programs
oriented towards improving the quality of Human Resources involved in the
management of Bandar Bakau, and implementing Bottom Up-based planning. To
optimize the management of Bandar Bakau's potential for the socio-economy of
the community, collaboration, perception and commitment of various parties are
needed, especially the Central Government, Riau Provincial Government, Dumai
City Government, community groups, companies, and other elements of interest.
