ABSTRACT
Motorized rickshaws are a modern means of transportation where from bicycle
rickshaws have changed to motorized rickshaws which have been modified and still
exist today (Study of Becak Simpang Kualu)” . The purpose of this study is to
determine the adaptation strategy of motorized rickshaw drivers to the existence of
online motorized transportation in Pekanbaru City and to find out why the existence of
motorized rickshaws still exists in Pekanbaru City. This research is Adaptation, motor
rickshaws and online transportation. This writer uses a descriptive qualitative method
using a purposive sampling technique. In this study, there were 7 informants out of 20
motorized pedicab drivers who were selected based on predetermined criteria for this
study, located on Jln Suka Karya, Tuah Karya Village, Tuah Madani District. for the
data instrument using observation, interviews and documentation. the results of this
study there are 3 strategies used in adapting and the impact faced by pedicab drivers
where the first strategy is Active strategy, the second is Passive strategy and the third
is Network strategy.
