ABSTRACT
This research was conducted in the village of Pelakar Jaya, Pamenang District, Merangin Regency, Jambi Province. This study aims (1) to determine the form of environmental and economic behavior adaptation of the Anak Dalam tribe in a residential area that resides in Pelakar Jaya Village (2) to determine the supporting factors and inhibiting the process of adapting the behavior of the Anak Dalam tribe. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method and data research techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Subjects in this study were selected using a techniquePurposive Sampling with a total of 6 Orang Rimba who live permanently in the Tribe Anak Dalam with the criteria of living in a housing for at least 1 year and are registered as residents of Pelakar Jaya Village. and 1key informan namely Pelakar Jaya Village Apparatus. The results of the study found that the Anak Dalam tribe who live in the Anak Dalam tribe's housing adapts to the environment and the economy in order to survive. Environmental adaptations are carried out in the form of adjustments to clothing and toilet washing (MCK). In addition to economic adaptation, namely in terms of work and fulfillment of consumption, in terms of work the Anak Dalam tribe works to meet household needs. The Anak Dalam tribe works in the informal sector, namely as agricultural laborers on oil palm plantations owned by the local community and as scavengers. In terms of fulfilling the consumption of the Suku Anak Dalam, they already consume it by buying basic food ingredients. The adaptation process of Suku Anak Dalam is carried out by interacting with the community, participating in activities, joining associations, and following norms or rules. In the process of adaptation of the Orang Rimba there are supporting factors in the form of community openness and obtaining facilities as well as inhibiting factors from work skills and limited income.
