ABSTRACT
The pasambahan manjapuik marauplai tradition is a type of Minangkabau oral literature. This tradition is carried out at weddings in Minangkabau custom. The pasambahan that occurs in the manjapuik marapulai event is a type of reciprocal pasambahan. This research took place in Kanagarian Panampuang, Ampek Angkek District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. The purpose of this study was to determine the normative and empirical implementation of the pasambahan manjapuik marapulai tradition. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. Qualitative descriptive research is research that aims to reveal facts, circumstances, and various phenomena that occur. The relation with this research is the disclosure of normative tradition implementation. Therefore, the writer will develop the concept, collect data and facts that occur in the research area. Data collection techniques used were in-depth interviews and observation. While the qualitative descriptive data analysis techniques through data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions along with suggestions. Based on the implementation of the research results, the implementation of the pasambahan manjapuik marapulai tradition has seen a shift from normative rules such as roles, responsibilities, and procedures for carrying them out. In the pasambahan manjapuik marapulai tradition, there are values such as the value of humility, the value of courtesy, the value of deliberation, the value of thoroughness, and the value of obedience to applicable customary rules.
