(Study on Gadjah Mada University Students from Riau)

Personal branding is considered as an identity to show individual qualities based on authenticity, honesty, and values that are appropriate to the individual self which aims to build a positive reputation, and increase opportunities in career and life. Gadjah Mada University students from Riau as the final stage of adolescent age category are in an environment that implements a competent, professional, and contributive spirit motivated to construct themselves by forming a self-concept as a perception of the quality of meaning and the views of others towards them. In today's digital era, Instagram is a visual medium capable of producing the meaning of an identity to be conveyed. This study aims to analyze the application of the three main dimensions in constructing personal branding namely, ability, style and standards through social media Instagram.
This study uses a qualitative method, namely seeing and listening more closely in detail to individual explanations and understanding of their experiences with a phenomenological approach and a constructivist paradigm. The informants in this study amounted to five people using techniques purposive. Data collection techniques were carried out in three ways, namely, interviews, observation and literature study. This study uses three data analysis techniques, namely, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The technique of checking the validity of the data uses the degree of trust (Credibility) by triangulating.
This research was conducted based on interviews and observations, so it can be concluded that the research informants, namely Gadjah Mada University students from Riau who applied the three main dimensions of building personal branding via social media Instagram. The most important dimension is ability or competence, this is done by developing the capabilities possessed in accordance with passion or favorite things. Then after successfully developing and displaying self-ability, the dimensions of style is a way to show the side of individual personality in order to get other people's views on the characteristics possessed and the last is the standard dimension as a consistent meaning of strength personal branding according to individual ability and personality.
