in the lyrics of songs “Permission To Dance”

Song lyrics are one of the places to convey a message. The delivery of messages in song lyrics is always used by songwriters and musicians in voicing something or conveying certain messages. The message can come from the songwriter's experience, or from the problems around him. One of them is the delivery of motivational messages in BTS's song entitled "Permission To Dance" which in the lyrics of the song describes motivational messages to raise enthusiasm. The purpose of this study is to find out what the denotation, connotation, and myths are in the lyrics of the song "Permission To Dance" and what motivational messages are in it.
This study uses a qualitative approach to Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis approach with three main points of study, namely denotation (true meaning), connotation (cultural meaning) and myth to analyze the meaning in the lyrics of the song "Permission To Dance" as a means of motivational messages. The objects in this study are the lyrical verses in the form of text in the song "Permission To Dance" which consists of 4 stanzas. Data collection techniques used are content analysis and literature study.
The results of this study are : denotatively, the sentence in the lyrics of the song “Permission To Dance” are interpreted objectively where there is a message to enjoy life, think positively even though problems are overwritten, and keep the spirit even though expectations have been achieved. Connotatively there is the meaning of the right to oneself in enjoying life, tests will always be there, the connotative meaning of being consistent and never giving up. The myth is new rules that have an impact on life during the covid-19 period so that there is a need for adaptation to life during the covid-19 period, the hope for the end of the pandemic period. The message of motivation in this study is extrinsic motivation. Motivation that comes from outside oneself.
