ABSTRACT
This study aims to 1) determine the characteristics of oil palm planters and middlemen in Pantai Cermin Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, 2) identify the process of selling oil palm production by planters to middlemen, 3) analyze the satisfaction of middlemen's performance and the interests of oil palm planters on the attributes of middlemen, 4) analyze the relationship between the characteristics of oil palm planters and satisfaction with the attributes of middlemen, 5) determine the attitude of planters towards the attributes of middlemen, 6) determine the pattern of patron-client relationships formed between planters and middlemen. This research was conducted in Pantai Cermin Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency using the survey method. Sampling using purposive sampling method. The number of samples was 88 people and 6 middlemen. The results showed that the characteristics of respondents were at productive age. The sales process of planters as much as 93 percent used transportation services from the middlemen. A total of 74 percent of planters expressed satisfaction with the services provided by the middlemen. The level of satisfaction of planters with the middlemen attribute is in the satisfied category with a value of 72.64. Attributes that have a high level of performance and importance are found in quadrant II. The relationship between the characteristics of planters and the level of satisfaction with the performance level of the middlemen on average has a significant positive relationship with a low correlation, except for the characteristics of farming experience with high prices which has a significant negative relationship with a low correlation. The value of smallholder attitudes is 103.23, which is included in the decent category. The pattern of relationships that occur between smallholders and middlemen, which is the existence of ownership of planters' resources, has a good category. The relationship of reciprocity, loyalty, and personnel of planters and middlemen has a decent category.
