ABSTRACT
This research was conducted in Kampung Baru Village, Senapelan Distict, Pekanbaru City. This study aims (1) to determine the behavior of the watershed (DAS) community towards the Siak River area (2) to determine the factors that influence the behavior of the watershed community towards the Siak River area. To answer the research objectives, a descriptive quantitative method was used by calculating the mean, maximum and minimum statistical analysis. The populations and this research are people who live around the Siak River, which are spread over 2 RWs and 4 RTs. Based on slovin’s calculations, the number of samples was 79 people with the sampling technique using proportional sampling or respresentation. The results of this study indicate that the form of community behavior towards river space is seen and three indicators, namely the use of recovery and control, the dominant treatment is supervisory behavior. Viewed as a whole, the level of behavior of the respondents showed results that were classified as low. Meanwhile, when viewed from the type of behavior as a whole shows positive behavior. Then for the factors that influence people’s behavior towards the Siak River space include social factors, knowledge factors and cultural factors. The results of these three factors indicate the cultural factors or the dominant culture influence people’s behavior towards the Siak River room.
