Abstract
The background to this research is that there is a problem faced by students at SMA Negeri 6 Pekanbaru when studying the subject of History, the students' understanding of history is lacking so that their ability to understand is hampered and difficult to improve. explanations to students still seem boring because they only know and memorize the dates of events in history. And students are less interested and interested in learning history, students do not understand the meaning or value of history, and still use discussion and lecture models, which creates a feeling of boredom and boredom in students because in the learning process teachers still use reading and writing methods. The problems studied in this research are: (1) How is the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model implemented at SMAN 6 Pekanbaru? (2) What influence does the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Model have on students' Historical Comprehension in the history subject of Class XII IPS SMA N 6 Pekanbaru? (3) How big is the influence of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on students' historical comprehension in history learning in Class XII IPS SMA N 6 Pekanbaru? The method used in this research is distributing questionnaires to respondents in class XII IPS SMA N 6 Pekanbaru, totaling 70 students, as well as questionnaire/questionnaire data collection techniques and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are Normality Test, Homogeneity and t Test using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Variables (X) and Historical Comprehension Variables (Y). Based on the results of the statistical analysis of Normality, Homogeneity and t Test, it was concluded that there was an influence of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model on students' Historical Comprehension in history learning in class XII IPS SMA Negeri 6 Pekanbaru. In the experimental class using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, students' Historical Comprehension had an average of 79.4. As for the control class using the conventional method, Historical Comprehension has an average of 75.9.
