Penerapan Model Problem Based Learning Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Peserta Didik Kelas VIII.2 Smpn 17 Pekanbaru
The problem with class VIII.2 students at SMPN 17 Pekanbaru is that learning only takes place in one direction. Students are not actively involved in learning, and most importantly students are not able to solve problems using problem solving steps, which causes students' KPMM to be low. Based on the problems described above, an innovative and interesting learning model is needed so that it can train students on issues related to KPMM. One lesson that can improve students' KPMM is the (PBL) model, seen from the results of research relevant to the (PBL) model and mathematical problem solving abilities. The main goal of problem-based learning is not the delivery of large amounts of knowledge to students, but is oriented towards developing critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities as well as developing the ability to actively build one's own knowledge. This research consists of two cycles, namely by carrying out actions that refer to the application of problem-based learning. Based on the data obtained in cycle I and cycle II, after being given the action, the overall KPMM of students experienced an increase. The average KPMM score of students in cycle II increased to 86.79 compared to the test results in cycle I of only 65.32 and the initial KPMM test results of only 32.01. The increase in students' KPMM was due to the implementation of the PBL model having given each individual the opportunity to have an understanding of the subject matter and increase their participation in group discussions. Students actively participate in discovering their own knowledge so that learning becomes meaningful and the knowledge gained lasts a long time. Apart from that, each group is required to be able to work together and encourage each other to have KPMM.
