ABSTRACT
The Department of Industry and Trade is the implementing element of the Regional Government in the Industry and Trade Sector. One of the tasks of the Pekanbaru City Industry and Trade Service is to monitor activities carried out by the private sector in managing the Lower Market. The problem in this research is that the supervision process carried out by the Pekanbaru City Industry and Trade Service is less than optimal, resulting in a decrease in the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Lower Market. The aim of this research was to look at the supervision process carried out by the Pekanbaru City Industry and Trade Service in 2022-2023.
This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods with the main data sources being primary data and secondary data. The data collection techniques used were interview techniques and documentation techniques. This data analysis technique is Data Reduction, Data Presentation, and Drawing Conclusions.
The results of this research are that the supervision carried out by the Pekanbaru City Industry and Trade Service in managing the lower market in 2022-2023 has basically been carried out in accordance with existing regulations. However, that year there was a transition period, where currently the managers in the lower market were being replaced, so that the monitoring process carried out was not working significantly. Apart from that, there are also obstacles, including the polemic between lower market traders and the new managers and the process of transferring traders from the lower market to lower market TPS. However, these obstacles have been resolved and the revitalization process in the lower market is underway.
