Uji Konsentrasi Ekstrak Batang Brotowali (Tinospora Crispa L.) Terhadap Mortalitas Larva Hama Penggerek Tongkol Jagung (Helicoverpa Armigera Hubn.)
Corn (Zea mays) is one of the staples produced in Indonesia and makes a significant contribution to increasing national economic growth. Borer pest Helicoverpa armigera Hubn. is the most damaging borer pest on corn plants. Attack of H. armigera Hubn. larvae it usually occurs in the dry season and causes a decrease in corn production by up to 80%.The continuous use of chemical pesticides can cause resistance to insects and mites. For this reason, another more affordable alternative is needed in controlling H. armigera Hubn. which are environmentally friendly such as the use of plant-based pesticides. One of the plants that can be used to make environmentally friendly pesticides is the brotowali plant (Tinospora crispa L.). The purpose of this research was to obtain a concentration of brotowali stem extract which is effective in killing the larvae of corn cob borers (H. armigera Hubn.). The research was carried out at the Plant Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University from February to April 2024. The research was carried out experimentally using a complete randomized design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments with 4 replicates so that 24 experimental units will be obtained. Each experimental unit consisted of 10 larvae of H. armigera Hubn. instar 3. The treatment that will be given to each experimental unit is with the concentration of brotowali stem extract are 0 g.l-1 water, 20 g.l-1 water, 40 g.l-1 water, 60 g.l-1 water, 80 g.l-1 water and 100 g.l-1 water. The results of the research showed that the administration of several brotowali stem extracts had a real effect in killing the larvae of corn cob borers (H. armigera). The concentration of brotowali stem extract 80 g.l-1 water is an effective concentration in killing H. armigera because it is able to control total mortality of 82.50% with an initial time of 21 hours of death and a lethal time 50 at 42 hours after application.
