Karakteristik Komposit Biosorben Berbahan Spent Mushroom Substrate (Sms) Dan Biomassa Coprinus Comatus Terhadap Penyisihan Logam Berat Cu(Ii) Dan Pb(Ii)
Spent Mushroom Substrate (SMS) is an organic material that has been pasteurized and is produced from biomass after mushroom harvesting, which has the potential to act as a biosorbent. The mushroom Coprinus comatus, a lignin-degrading fungus, can be utilized as a biosorbent. Composite material refers to the combination of these two substances to enhance metal absorption efficiency. The objective of this research is to determine the optimal composite composition of biosorbents made from SMS and Coprinus comatus biomass for the efficient removal of heavy metals Cu(II) and Pb(II), and to obtain characteristic data of the best composite biosorbent composition using tests such as BET, SEM, and FTIR. The study used a fixed set of variables: 30 minutes contact time, agitation speed of 150 rpm, total mass of 1 gr, and biosorbent size of 140 mesh. The composition variations of the biosorbent included ratios of spent mushroom substrate (SMS) to Coprinus comatus biomass at 50:50%, 25:75%, 75:25%, 100:0%, and 0:100%. The results showed that the highest efficiency and adsorption capacity for Cu(II) were achieved with 100% SMS composition, with an absorption efficiency of 61.83%. For Pb(II), the best composition was found to be 75% SMS and 25% Coprinus comatus biomass, with an absorption efficiency of 78.67%. The surface morphology of the biosorbent before the biosorption process showed more open and rough pores compared to after biosorption, where the surface area increased and pores appeared filled. The surface area and pore volume of SMS were larger compared to Coprinus comatus biomass: from 1.4665 m2/gr to 0.3762 m2/gr for surface area, and from 0.0032 cc/gr to 0.0010 cc/gr for pore volume. Various functional groups such as hydroxyl, carboxyl, carbonyl, phosphate, amine, and other potential functional groups were identified that play a role in binding heavy metals Cu(II) and Pb(II).
