Jalan Merpati Sakti is a local road that serves local transportation with the characteristics of short-distance travel, has a length of 1,400 meters and a width of 5 meters. Damage to the flexible pavement of Jalan Merpati Sakti, Pekanbaru City makes it uncomfortable for drivers to pass through the road. The author conducted direct observations on Jalan Merpati Sakti along 1,400 meters. The damage starts from the intersection of Jalan HR. Soebrantas at STA 00+000 to Jalan Mawar at STA 01+400. This research method uses the Surface Distress Index (SDI) method and the length per segment is 100 m. The purpose of the study was to determine the types of road pavement damage using the Surface Distress Index (SDI) method, and to determine the value of the road surface condition on Jalan Merpati Sakti, Pekanbaru City. The data needed for this investigation are the dimensions of the damage, length, width and depth of the damage. The results of the study on the Merpati Sakti road section of Pekanbaru City STA 00+000 - STA1+400, which according to the SDI method there are 4 elements of damage, namely the percentage of the total crack area obtained is 3.01%, the average crack width is
39.3 mm, the number of holes 56 damage, and the average depth of rutting/ruts is 6 cm. The calculation of the SDI value obtained the road conditions obtained, STA 0+000 - STA 0+800, and STA 1+000 - STA 1+400 are in good condition which states the SDI value
