ABSTRACT

Bengkalis Island is one of the large islands in Bengkalis Regency which is located in Riau Province. According to the Central Statistics Agency (CSA), Bengkalis Island is projected to experience an increase in population and rapid development every year. This increase results in a reduction in the area of water infiltration areas. The aim of this research is to analyze the condition of the distribution of water infiltration areas on Bengkalis Island. The method used is scoring and overlay using a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach based on two ministerial regulations, namely Regulation of the Minister of Public Works and Housing Number 10/PRT/M/2015 and Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number 10 of 2022. The results of the analysis obtained 2 maps of water infiltration areas which were divided into three classifications, namely good condition, normal, and ranging critical. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works and Housing Number 10/PRT/M/2015, the distribution of water infiltration conditions on Bengkalis Island is good condition covering an area of 29.568,64 hectares (32,61%), Normal covering an area of 61.109,80 hectares (67,39%), and ranging critical covering 1,06 hectares (0,001%). Meanwhile, the area of distribution of water infiltration conditions is based on Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number 10 of 2022, namely good condition covering 5.286,80 hectares (5,83%), normal covering 79.040,19 hectares (87,16%), and ranging critical covering 6.352,53 hectares (7,01%).
