This study aims to describe and provide an overview of the ability of PGSD students of the University of Riau in reading comprehension or comprehension of the reading of a text. The focus of this research is to measure the level of reading comprehension of students in determining 5 indicators, namely: determining the main idea, determining the implied meaning and explicit meaning, determining the details and facts in the reading, determining the title and topic, and determining the conclusion. The type of this study is analysis with a quantitative approach and using a descriptive statistical model. The sample in this study is 78 PGSD students of the University of Riau. Data collection in this study uses test techniques. The test provided contains 30 multiple-choice (objective) questions that have been validated previously. The classification of the level of understanding was determined using five categories on a scale of 0–100, namely very poor (0–44), poor (45–59), fair (60–69), good (70–84), and very good (85–100). Based on the interval of the score, the results were obtained in the indicator of determining the main idea of the value of 72.00 which was categorized as "good", in the indicator of determining the implied meaning and explicit meaning of the value of 85.03 which was categorized as "very good", on the indicator of determining the details and facts in the reading of the value of 87.60 which was categorized as "very good", on the indicator of determining the title and topic of the reading the value of 72.43 which was categorized as "good", and on the indicator determining the conclusion in the reading of the value is 71.14 which is categorized as "good". Meanwhile, the reading comprehension score of PGSD students of the University of Riau class of 2020 is 83.88 categorized as "good", the class of 2021 is 72.14 categorized as "good", and the class of 2022 is 77.54 categorized as "good". This is in line with the opinion (Nurhadi, 2011), which states that the level of understanding is ideally between 60-80. Thus, judging from the average obtained, it can be concluded that the level of reading comprehension ability of PGSD students of the University of Riau is already at the ideal limit which can be categorized into the "good" level.
