Hubungan Kelimpahan Makrozoobenthos Dengan Kandungan Bahan Organik Sedimen Di Kawasan Ekosistem Mangrove Marine Station Universitas Riau Kota Dumai

This research was conducted in April 2024 in the mangrove ecosystem at Marine Station University of Riau, Purnama Village, Dumai City, Riau Province. The purpose of the study was to determine the abundance of macrozoobenthos, total sediment organic matter content, and the relationship between total sediment organic matter content and macrozoobenthos abundance. The method used was survey method, the determination of the research location was done by purposive sampling, where 3 sampling stations were selected with each station consisting of 4 plots. The results showed the total sediment organic matter content between stations there is a significant difference, namely the lowest average value at station 3 (6,96%) and the highest at station 1 (12,33%). Macrozoobenthos species of gastropod class found 10 species were Chicoreus capucinus, Nerita articulate, Neritina violacea, Ellobium aurisjudae, Crasidulaaurisfelis, Littoraria scabra, Cerithidea cingulata, C. obtuse, Assiminea brevicula, and Platevindex coriaceus. While the crustacean class found 3 species were Sessarma guttatum, Tubuca dussumieri, and T. rosea. There was a significant difference in macrozoobenthos abundance between stations, in which the highest mean value obtained at station 1 (7,5 ind/m2) and the lowest at station 3 (4,75 ind/m2). The highest relative abundance value was Assiminea brevicula (26,7%) while the lowest relative abundance value was C. obtuse (2,22%). The relationship between total sediment organic matter content and macrozoobenthos abundance showed a strong and positive relationship with a correlation value of 0,552, which means that the higher the total sediment organic matter, the higher the abundance of macrozoobenthos.
