Stok Karbon Serasah Di Area Mangrove Muara Sungai Masjid Dumai

One of the mangrove forest areas in Dumai City is the Muara Sungai Masjid Mangrove Forest Area located in Purnama Dumai District, precisely in the Marine Station mangrove area and the Bangsal Aceh area which has a fairly large area and great potential as a carbon absorber from the atmosphere, so the existence of mangrove forests needs to be maintained to maintain carbon stability in the atmosphere. However, mangrove forests, especially in this area, have the potential to be damaged. The purpose of this study was to determine litter production, organic matter in litter, carbon stock and carbon absorption in the Marine Station and Bangsal Aceh mangrove forests. Mangrove litter sampling was carried out using the Purposive Sampling technique. The results showed that litter production in the Marine Station mangrove area ranged from 121.93 gbk/m2/30 days. Meanwhile, litter production in the Bangsal Aceh mangrove area ranged from 46.98 gbk/m2/30 days. The organic matter content in the Marine Station mangrove area ranged from 0,225-0,328 kg. Meanwhile, the organic matter content of Bangsal Aceh mangrove area ranges from 0,135-0,170 kg. Carbon stock in the Marine Station mangrove area ranges from 1,053-1,541 tons/ha, Meanwhile, the carbon stock content in the Bangsal Aceh mangrove area ranges from 0,632-0,805 tons/ha. Litter carbon absorption in the Marine Station mangrove area ranges from 0,387-0,530 kg/m2. Meanwhile, carbon absorption in the Bangsal Aceh mangrove area ranges from 0,251-0,380 kg/m2. It is hoped that there will be further research on carbon stock in litter based on each type of mangrove and the age of the mangrove, in addition, research is also needed on other carbon sources such as underground biomass, dead trees and biota in the mangrove ecosystem.
