Pengembangan Potensi Ekowisata Pantai Carolina, Kecamatan Bungus, Sumatera Barat
This research was conducted from April to May 2024 at Carolina Beach, Bungus District, West Sumatra. The objectives of this study are to identify the beach ecotourism objects and attractions at Carolina Beach, determine the factors influencing the development of ecotourism at Carolina Beach, and design strategies for developing the ecotourism potential at Carolina Beach. Carolina Beach has the potential to be developed as an ecotourism area due to its pristine panorama and the presence of coral reefs scattered around its coastal waters. The factors influencing the development of ecotourism at Carolina Beach include transparency and coordination with the government, community participation, infrastructure and facilities, and promotion and marketing. Strategies for developing ecotourism potential are designed using the tourism suitability index (IKW) and SWOT analysis. Based on the tourism suitability index, the suitability value for tourism activities at Carolina Beach falls into the highly suitable category, with scores ranging from 2.8 to 3. The results of the SWOT analysis indicate that the development strategy for ecotourism potential at Carolina Beach is positioned in the Strength-Opportunities (SO) strategy. The priority of this strategy is to collaborate with tourism agencies, involve the local community, and create educational tourism programs.
