Nadia Indah Pratiwi / 2010247571 - Nama Orang;

Seagrass ecosystems are part of the coastal ecosystem, so they are geographically linked to the land area. Therefore, changes in environmental conditions will have an impact on the condition of seagrass ecosystems. Threats to seagrass ecosystems on the east coast of Bintan Island come from human activities on land and in the coastal water environment itself. The aim of this study are to analyze the existing condition of seagrass ecosystem, the sustainability status of seagrass ecosystem and design a sustainable seagrass ecosystem management strategy in Eastern Marine Tourism Park of Bintan Island.

This study was conducted in June 2023 located in Eastern Marine Tourism Park of Bintan Island, Riau Islands Province. The study method employed was a survey method. The data set included both primary and secondary data related to the attributes of sustainable development dimensions, namely: ecological, economic, socio-cultural and legal and institutional dimensions. Analysis of sustainability status using a multidimensional scaling (MDS) approach, namely with Rap-Insus SEGMENT (Rapid Appraisal-Index Sustainability of Seagrass Management) modified from RAPFISH. Management strategy analysis was conducted descriptively based on sensitive attributes from the leverage analysis.

According to the result of the study, nine species of seagrass were found in the Eastern Marine Tourism Park of Bintan Island. The species of seagrass found are: Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea serrulata, Cymodocea rotundata, Halodule uninervis, Halodule pinifolia, Halophila ovalis, Syringodium isoetifolium and Thalassodendron ciliatum. The mean percentage of seagrass cover was 64,44%, indicating a dense seagrass cover category. The dominant species are Enhalus acoroides and Thalassia hemprichii. The water quality conditions in Eastern Marine Tourism Park of Bintan Island remain conducive to the survival of seagrasses.

The sustainability status of seagrass ecosystems in Eastern Marine Tourism Park of Bintan Island is multidimensionally quite sustainable with an index value (56,47). The ecological dimension is quite sustainable with an index value (69,07), the economic dimension is quite sustainable with an index value (64,38), the socio-cultural dimension is quite sustainable with an index value (56,33), the legal and institutional dimension is less sustainable with an index value (46,73).

Strategies to improve the sustainability status of seagrass ecosystem management in Eastern Marine Tourism Park of Bintan Island are determined through sensitive attributes in each dimension of sustainability. The ecological dimension of strategies that can be implemented are as follows: (1) Habitat protection and restoration. (2) Supporting seagrass survival by maintaining water and substrate conditions. (3) Combating black oil waste pollution. The economic dimension of the strategies that can be carried out are: (1) Providing business capital assistance. (2) Diversification of fishery products. (3) Developing community-based tourism business. The socio-cultural dimension of the strategies that can be carried out are: (1) Enhancing the solidarity of fishing communities (social networking) to overcome conflicts. (2) Building a seagrass litter processing plant as an alternative livelihood for the community. The legal and institutional dimensions of the strategies that can be carried out are: (1) Optimize the performance of community supervisory (Pokmaswas) in Eastern Marine Tourism Park of Bintan Island.
