Analisis Jenis Dan Kelimpahan Mikroplastik Pada Sedimen Di Pantai Teluk Mata Ikan, Kota Batam, Provinsi Kepulauan Riau
Teluk Mata Ikan Bay is located in Sambau Village, Nongsa, Batam, know as a famous tourist spot as well as a local fishing area. This study aimed to assess the types and abundance of microplastics in sediments, and how microplastic abundance varies by station, zone, and depth. The survey method was used, with three sampling stations chosen through purposive sampling. Samples were analyzed at the Chemical Oceanography Laboratory, University of Riau.Three types of microplastics were found: fibers, fragments, and films. The highest abundance was at Station I (413.33 particles/Kg), and the lowest at Station III (147.3 particles/Kg). There were significant differences between Station I and Station III (p < 0.05), but no significant differences between the other stations (p > 0.05). Microplastic abundance in the upper zone (445.56 particles/Kg) was higher than in the lower zone (203.33 particles/Kg), with a significant difference (p < 0.05). Abundance at 0-10 cm depth (372.22 particles/Kg) was higher than at 10-20 cm depth (271.66 particles/Kg), but no significant difference was found (p > 0.05). Further research is recommended to analyze microplastics in the water column and in marine biota.
