ABSTRACT
Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a plantation crop that is a leading commodity in Indonesia, especially in Riau Province. Riau Province has sandy soils (Dystrudepts) that are often used for oil palm plantations. This soil has a very fast percolation and high leaching risk, so it requires the selection of slow-release fertilizers namely Polyhalite and combined with KCl. The purpose of this research is to study the effect of Polyhalite and its combination with KCl fertilizer and determine the best combination on leaf nutrient levels and production of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) on Dystrudepts soil. This research was conducted experimentally using a complete randomized design (CRD). The treatments used, per plant. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and to determine the differences between the treatment means, Duncan's new multiple range test was conducted at the 5% level. The results showed that the application of Polyhalite fertilizer and the combination of Polyhalite with KCl for 6 months had a significant effect on the levels of leaf nutrients Mg and the weight of fresh fruit bunches. The application of 100% Polyhalite fertilizer significantly increased the highest total weight of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) compared to other treatments. The best treatment combination in increasing leaf nutrient levels and production of oil palm plants on Dystrudepts soil is 100% Polyhalite fertilizer.
