Uji Konsentrasi Ekstrak Organik Daun Pepaya(Carica Papaya L.) Terhadap Mortalitasulat Grayak Jagung (Spodoptera Frugiperda J.E Smith)Di Laboratorium
ABSTRACT
Corn (Zea mays L.) is the second important food in Indonesia after rice. One of the problems encountered in maize cultivation is the attack of the corn fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda J.E., Smith). The corn fall armyworm S. frugiperda is a threat in maize cultivation, because it can cause a decrease in production of 5-20% when the larvae attack the leaves and 100% when the larvae attack the corn cobs. Papaya leaf botanical pesticide (Carica papaya L.) can be a safe alternative for controlling S. frugiperda. This study aims to obtain the effective concentration of papaya leaf organic extract on S. frugiperda mortality. The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture and Laboratory of Organic Chemistry and Natural Materials, Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau, from January 2023 to February 2023, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment application consists of a concentration of 0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0, 75% and 1% papaya leaf extract with 96% ethanol solvent. The results showed that the difference in concentration had a significant effect on the death of S. frugiperda. Concentrations starting from 0.25% are good at causing pest death, but an effective concentration for controlling S. frugiperda is a 1% concentration of papaya leaf organic extract with a total mortality of 87.50%, initial death time of 10.50 hours, and 10.50 hours of death. 50% mortality at 45.25 hours after application.
