Prarancangan Pabrik Polivinil Alkohol Dari Polivinil Asetat Proses Alcoholysis Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Alcoholysis (R-101)
ABSTRACT
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH, PVA, or PVAI) is a compound classified as an acetylene derivative compound. This type of polymer has a molecular formula (C2H4O)n, is soluble in hot water, has low gas permeability, has paper properties, and has high electrical resistance, and has a crystal structure (can reflect light). Polyvinyl alcohol can be used for paper coating materials, fibers, and adhesives. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours/day with a capacity of 150,000 tons/year which will be established in the Bontang Industrial Area, East Kalimantan. The form of the company chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main tool design in this factory is the Alcoholysis Reactor (R-101) which functions as a place for the alcoholysis reaction of Polyvinyl Acetate and Methanol into Polyvinyl Alcohol products. Economic analysis in the design of this factory shows that this factory is feasible to be established. With a Break Event Point (BEP) value of 40.002%, Payback Period (PBP) of 1 year 6 months, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 48.693%, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.778%.
