Model Hidrolika Interkoneksi Danau Kawasan Kampus Universitas Riau Untuk Mitigasi Banjir
ABSTRACT
The University of Riau campus area frequently experiences inundation during the
rainy season, highlighting the need for effective and sustainable flood mitigation
strategies. This study aims to model the hydraulic system of interconnected lakes
within the campus area to optimize water retention capacity and reduce flood risk.
Data collection included topographic, rainfall, and other hydrological data.
Hydrological analysis was conducted to determine design flood discharges for
various return periods, while the hydraulic modeling was carried out using HECRAS
version 6.5. Model calibration was performed using a discharge with a 1.0101-
year return period to compare the simulation results with field measurements as a
form of model verification. The lake interconnection system was modeled as a
unified structure divided into seven flow segments. The simulation results indicate
that at each return period (1.0101; 1.25; 2; 5; 10; 25 years), several points within
these segments experienced overflow or localized flooding. This indicates that
although the lakes provide significant retention functions, improvements in storage
capacity and management at critical points are still necessary to optimize flood
mitigation in the campus area.
