Analisis Spesific Grinding Energy Dengan Variasi Laju Umpan Powder, Kecepatan Agitator Dan Level Grinding Media Pada Penggilingan Basah
ABSTRACT
The manufacturing process of Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC) involves wet
grinding which requires a certain energy known as Specific Grinding Energy
(SGE). This energy is critical in achieving the desired particle size and has a
direct impact on the quality of the final product as well as the efficiency of the
energy used in the process. This study aims to analyze the effect of powder feed
rate, agitator speed, and grinding media level parameters on SGE. The data used
in this study are primary data obtained through experimental methods. Powder
feed rate was varied at 9.3 tons; 9.5 tons; and 9.7 tons, agitator speed was varied
at 190 rpm, 193 rpm, and 195 rpm, and grinding media level was varied at 0 kg,
25 kg, and 50 kg. The analysis showed that the specific grinding energy (SGE)
decreased as the powder feed rate increased but was inversely proportional to the
particle size distribution (PSD). The higher the agitator speed, the more energy is
required for the grinding process and the particle size distribution becomes
smaller with an increase in agitator speed. SGE and particle size distribution
(PSD) increase with the increase in the amount of grinding media.
