the perceptions of english study program students of fkip universitas riau on the use of duolingo in learning english vocabulary
This research aimed to find out the perceptions of third-semester
students from the English Study Program at FKIP Universitas Riau regarding the
use of the Duolingo for learning English vocabulary. A quantitative descriptive
method was used, with 30 students from Class A selected through purposive
sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire based on three indicators:
Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, and Attitude Toward Using
Duolingo. The results showed an overall positive perception, with a mean score of
4.01. Perceived Usefulness scored 4.00, indicating Duolingo’s effectiveness in
vocabulary learning. Perceived Ease of Use received 4.11, suggesting students
found the app accessible, while Attitude Toward Using scored 3.91, reflecting a
positive learning attitude. In conclusion, third-semester students of the English
Study Program at FKIP Universitas Riau showed positive perceptions of using the
Duolingo application to learn English vocabulary. They found it useful for learning
English, accessible, easy to use, supportive, and engaging for learning English
vocabulary.
